ASTRONAUTS MEET: (SAAHF)
In August 2005, with the Director of NASA, Major General Charles Bolden, USMC (ret) looking on, Jeff Greene, Ex. Director, SAAHF presents Yang LIwei,China’s first Astronaut with The Sino-Ameircan Aviation Heritage Foundation’s Arthur Chin Aviation Achievement Award in a ceremony at the Chinese Government’s “Guest House” in Beijing. Also in the photo is Apollo 16 Astronaut and “Moon Walker” Brigadier General Charles Duke, USAF (ret). Off Camera to the right stands Dr. Mae Jemison, America’s first Black female astronaut. The three American Astronauts participated in a SAAHF led, ten day tour of the Chinese Space Program, visiting key Chinese space and industry related facilities in Beijing, Xian, Chongqing, Nanjing and Shanghai. The event was sponsored by the Chinese Association for Astronomis and the Du Pont Corporation. As a group, these are the first American Astronauts to visit China as official guests of the Chinese Government.
