“R.T.’s” MUSTANG: (1st AIR COMMANDO GROUP)
An exciting new profile image created by noted aviation artist and SAAHF Foundation Board Member, James Laurier, of a North American P-51A Mustang fighter of the 1st Air Commando Group, flown by former AVG Fighter “Ace” Robert “R.T.” Smith who commanded the Group’s Bomber Section. Though not quite the aircraft the Mustang would become as the Rolls Royce Merlin powered P-51 B, C and D, however the Allison V-1710 powered P-51A’s were faster and had much greater range than the older P-40’s that were then the primary American fighters serving in China and throughout the CBI.

This image of “R.T.’s” Mustang is one of the many profile images Jim is creating for the extended version of ‘When Tigers Roared,’ which should be available in 2017, and will be published in both Chinese and English.
